Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy is a health and rehabilitation profession designed to help people regain and build skills that are important for health, well-being, security and happiness. Occupational Therapists work with people of all ages who, because of physical, developmental, social or emotional deficits, need specialized assistance in learning skills to enable them to lead independent, productive and satisfying lives.

Working closely with the primary and specialty physicians, Occupational Therapy is designed to maximize the patient's return to independence and productivity in the shortest time possible. A full range of Occupational Therapy Services is now offered at Jasper County Hospital and KV Health Centre. Services may include:

  • Customized treatment programs aimed at improving abilities to carry out activities of daily living

  • Comprehensive evaluation of home and job environments and recommendations on necessary adaptation

  • Assessments and treatment for work performance skills

  • Recommendations and training in the use of adaptive equipment to replace lost function

  • Instructions to family members and attendants in safe and effective methods of caring for individuals

In addition to traditional rehabilitation services, the Occupational Therapists at Jasper County Hospital offer the following:
