The Intensive Coronary Care Unit is a 5 bed critical care unit that delivers care to acutely and critically ill or injured patients requiring extensive monitoring and intensive nursing care. The usual types of patients seen are adults with chest pain, acute MI, acute CVA, acute respiratory failure, overdose and trauma.
Twenty-four hour nursing care is provided by RNs and LPNs with critical care training. Services provided include cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, external pacemaking ventilation per volume respirator, administration of t-PA and emergency medications and continuous monitoring of telemetry patients on the Med/Surg unit.
Cardiology clinic is available once weekly through our outpatient department. Cardiac consults, echocardiograms and EKG stress tests are provided by a consulting physician with an order by your physician. Transfer of patients to larger treatment facilities can be arranged 24 hours per day with a physician's order. Quality assurance is an integral part of the operation of this unit and is incorporated into all aspects of care delivery.
