SUMMARY:
Responsible to the Department Director. Coordinates total nursing care for residents, participates in resident and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assists professional medical staff and nursing staff by performing duties in caring for residents as assigned. Focusing on correctness and accuracy of work duties performed, being conscientious, thorough and attentive to detail while performing tasks.
Assesses the resident's condition and nursing needs utilizing the following senses: vision, smell, auscultation and palpation. Sets goals; exhibits appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs of the resident, including discharge planning.
Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents to the appropriate person (i.e., physicians and/or unit director) and records those observation accurately and concisely.
Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with residents, visitors and other hospital personnel while assuring confidentiality of resident information. Also ensures that information is accessible only to those authorized to have access while respective the privacy and dignity of others.
Reports to duty on time and follows absenteeism policy.

AIDE

Shift:Part-time: 5:30A-2P, 11:30A-8P

SUMMARY:
The Dietary Aide helps prepare patient menus, assemble patient meals, and other related duties, with the goal of servicing patients and residents with satisfying meals that provide for their nutritional needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Prepare menus for individual patients and residents using information about a patient's food tolerances, preferences, and the diet order.
Knowledgeable about what foods are allowed and not allowed based on a patient's or resident's diet order.
Assists in assembling patient/resident meal trays in an attractive manner based on an individual patient's diet and menu choices.
Washes soiled trays, dishes, and service ware using proper sanitary techniques.
Assists on the Cafeteria line by serving salads and desserts, helping the cooks, and cleaning.
Helps the cooks with food pre-prep and portioning of menu items.

Education Coordinator

Shift: Part-time

To oversee, direct and/or coordinate Hospital educational activities for all departments. To recommend and develop policies and procedures related to the institutional educational program. To assist in development and implementation of patient teaching.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Written and verbal communication skills are required to prepare documentation and presentation of education material.
• Visual and auditory ability to view audiovisual material, assess employees written and clinical tests, prepare documentation, work with clinical nursing equipment.
• Able to operate the following equipment: VCR monitor, overhead projector, VCR camera/recorder, Tape recorder, copy/Fax machine, Labtop, power point, computer, phone system for webinars.
• Confers with Department Directors and employees to determine the educational needs, assists and/or directs the development and implementation and evaluation of the programs.
• Works with Nurse Directors in developing on-the-job training programs.
• Maintains nursing records of internal/external educational programs presented, sponsored by or paid for by the Hospital

Health Unit Coordinator

Shift: Full-time, 5:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m. (2 Positions Available)

SUMMARY:
Performs clerical duties on nursing unit and acts as unit receptionist. Responsible to Charge Nurse and Department Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs clerical duties on the nursing unit. Answers telephone, takes messages, dispatches messages and information using pleasant, courteous and professional communication. Relays messages accurately and in a timely fashion. Establishes good public and Hospital relationships by receiving and directing patients/families to appropriate area for care.
Must be conscientious, thorough and attentive to detail when performing assigned tasks.
Must be able to respect the privacy and dignity of others. Must ensure that information is accessible only to those authorized to have access.
Must be able to quickly understand new information and situations and the ability to demonstrate the capacity to make reasonable decisions, focusing on what is in the best interests of Jasper County Hospital and the community we serve.

Housekeeper

Shift: Part-time, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

Under the supervision of the Facilities Director/Coordinator of Environmental/Laundry Services, the housekeeper is responsible to maintain acceptable level of cleanliness in daily assigned area. This includes, but is not limited to, restrooms, showers, stairways, entrance ways, lobbies, chapel, libraries, lounges, patient rooms and treatment areas. Performs cleaning on vertical and horizontal surfaces. Housekeeper must report any concerns or situations to appropriate department personnel. Must be able to lift 35 lbs on a regular basis.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Mixes chemical according to manufacturer's directions. These solutions will be used by the housekeeper in daily cleaning assignments.
Cleans and disinfects assigned area, floors, walls, showers, water fountains, furniture, spot cleans walls as needed.
Cleans mirrors, ledges, doors in the daily assigned area.
Cleans windows, window sills, blinds. Changes shower curtains as needed.
Empties all trash in assigned area. Maintains a working knowledge of bio-hazardous and noninfectious waste policy and procedures.
The employee is expected to complete all regular daily work assignments and any other tasks/duties as assigned. If for any reason the employee is not able to complete the regularly scheduled assignments they are to report the reason for the variance from the schedule to their immediate Supervisor.

The Licensed Practical Nurse gives skilled nursing care to Home Health Care and Hospice patients according to the physician's orders under the direction of the RN.

Provides professional nursing care to patients in their home in support of medical care directed by the patient's physician and is assigned by a registered nurse
Notifies the physician of any pertinent changes in the patient condition.
Has a good understanding and practices all regulatory and reimbursement requirements.
Must maintain complete, accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, medications, treatments and patient/family education.
Confers with primary nurse on a regular basis regarding patient status. Reports any changes or immediate needs. Reports to Home Health Care and Hospice Management if primary nurse is unavailable.
Attends in-service training and mandatory agency meetings.

Registered Nurse with current licensure in the state of Indiana, CPR certification, ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire.  Must have good communication skills and be able to adapt to changing stressful situations.  Must have excellent attendance record, computer skills and excellent documentation required.  Position will require weekends and holiday rotation.  ER experience and desire to cross train a plus.  BSN preferred.

SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Purchasing, this position orders, maintains and provides all the necessary medical supplies needed for the doctors, nurses and aides to provide quality medical care to the patients.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Weekly/daily inventory and restocking of various departments is to be done in an efficient, accurate and timely manner.
Must fill all requisitions, written, computer generated, faxed or phoned, quickly and accurately.
Print Purchase Orders receiving documents and check received orders against packing slip or invoice and receiving documents.
