Jasper County Hospital Home Health Care and Hospice Department will hold its 23rd annual Light Up a Life celebration at 4:00 p.m. (CST) on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the Medical Outreach Building adjacent to the Hospital. The Hospital’s Foundation co-sponsors the event.
“When we have lost a loved one, their absence during the holidays is felt more deeply. One of the healing tasks of grieving is to find a positive way to include the memory of our loved one in holiday celebration,” states Karen Rients, RN, Director of Home Health Care & Hospice Care. A donation in memory or in honor of an individual will light one light on our tree throughout the holiday season. Donations of $100 or more will also be acknowledged on a memorial plaque displayed in the Medical Outreach Building Lobby.
In the last 23 years, the Jasper County Hospital Home Health Care and Hospice has remembered and honored many loved ones and caretakers through the Light Up a Life ceremony. Proceeds from the campaign are used to help pay for the care of those who cannot afford it, have exhausted their insurance options, or do not qualify for any other assistance.
Most of the lighting ceremony, including the reading of the names of those being honored, will be held in the Lobby of the Medical Outreach Building. The celebration will proceed outside for the illumination of the tree. For those who are uncomfortable in chilly weather, the lighting can be observed from windows overlooking the area. Refreshments will be served in the building after the ceremony.
