Deb Walker, Carol Williams and Becky Primeau.

Our Oncology Program offers:

Diagnosis

State of the art equipment is available which allows our physicians to diagnose all forms of cancer. We can perform mammography, CT scans, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, and other diagnostic procedures. We also have up-to-date laboratory facilities for needed diagnostic testing.

Medical Treatment

The Jasper County Oncology Program offers you the opportunity of receiving chemotherapy treatments locally even though the physician you may be seeing is located elsewhere. Our specially trained oncology nurses will be able to administer your medication as prescribed by your physician. The oncologist (cancer specialist) works with you in cooperation with your personal physician to develop the treatment schedule that's effective for you. Our oncologist is from Indianapolis and is associated with the American Health Network. The oncologist and staff form a team to help you overcome your disease.

Patient Education

Every day there is new information obtained about cancer. Our association with the American Health Network allows us to stay informed about cancer and treatment options and share the information with you. Numerous booklets and pamphlets dealing with the various aspects of cancer are available to you. We will also teach you about your medication, including its purpose and any side effects.

Dietary/Nutritional Counseling

A well-balanced, healthy diet is an essential weapon in the fight against cancer. It provides the energy and materials the body needs in order to grow strong, healthy tissue. Our staff dietician, Jay Covill R.D., will be available to you for dietary counseling.

Social Services

Assistance is available to help you if there are financial concerns or other personal needs. A number of agencies in the community can help. The Hospital Social Services Coordinator, Mary Alson, can put you in touch with these agencies.

Home Health Care & Hospice

Professional services are available which may allow individuals the chance to remain at home. The Home Health Care and Hospice Department also offers the patient Home Medical Equipment and oxygen to help with recovery in the home.

Cancer Support Group

The Cancer Support Group meets monthly to offer support and encouragement to cancer patients, families and friends. Meetings are held the 4th Thursday of each month at 2:00 pm C.S.T. in the OB conference room at Jasper County Hospital. The meetings offer an informal opportunity to share experiences and benefit from the encouragement of others.
